EnergyComNetwork Announces its Presence on the World Wide Web

  • January 20, 2009: ECN is pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Jeffrey M. Weiser to its organization as a new principal. Mr. Weiser brings a wealth of utility experience in the regulated and deregulated markets. His most recent position was President of First Choice Power in Irving, TX, a subsidiary of PNM Resources and the fourth largest retailer in the Texas market with $700 million in annual sales. Prior to First Choice Power, Jeff served as Senior Vice President & General Manager, for Business Markets with TXU Corporation, a division of 300 employees. He also held a number of other positions during his 12 year tenure with TXU. Mr. Weiser will be in charge of the overall direction, products and services development, and the expansion of EnergyComNetwork including partnering and growth strategies. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University, serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University, and has been a regular speaker at many industry and academic conferences.
  • October 8, 2008:  ECN announces the release of its new AMI ready digital “collar” meter.  This is a full functioning electronic meter which can be placed between the existing meter and the meter socket.  The meter includes a cellular data modem for a true “plug-n-play” installation with immediate activation or other compatible AMI interface.  The meter also includes a 250-amp disconnect switch, ECN’s Pre-Pay Module  with extensive payment functionality and interfaces, Zigbee radio with Ember 3.1, customer Pre-Pay displays including an in-home display option, CIS, billing and web-based interfaces, multiple rate structures including TOU, variable real-time pricing, multiple FIFO rates, remote reconnect/disconnect functionality with automatic or manual reset, automatic weather intervention and pass-through with recovering payment plans, and much more.  ECN can provide the entire end-to-end implementation including automated payment processing.
  • September 30, 2008:  ECN completes the integration of its Pre-Pay Module  with the Landis+Gyr Focus AX meter.   The AX meter provides complete ANSI table information and a 200-amp disconnect switch.  Communications are accomplished through TCP/IP cellular data connections or other AMI interfaces.  The integration allows for a quick “plug-n-play” of a full AMI meter with all of the features and functionality of the Pre-Pay Module  in an under-the-glass package with a Zigbee radio interface, in-home display, and access to other Zigbee devices.. 
  • September 15, 2008:  ECN announces the release of its upgrade to the ECN Pre-Pay Module.  This new enhancement provides TOU, variable real-time pricing, advanced FIFO storage registers, Pre-Pay update calculations every three (3) seconds, disconnect/reconnect interfaces, event handling, a TCP/IP cellular data connection or other AMI interfaces, and much more.  This advanced technology and procedure does not exist anywhere else in the industry.  In addition, the Pre-Pay Module  includes a Zigbee radio with the ability to communicate with ECN’s new in-home display, thermostats, light switches, power outlets, water heaters and other Demand Side Management devices.  The Pre-Pay Module  is designed to work with most electronic electrical meters.  ECN provides a host of payment processing options to the customer and at no charge to the utility.  No AMI network is necessary which allows a true “plug-n-play” Pre-Pay system with immediate implementation without any capital cost.  ECN will provide the entire system at no cost as a service model.
  • July 5, 2008:  ECN signs contract with Young Energy to provide Pre-Pay metering and billing services in Texas.  Young Energy is a new Retail Electric Provider in Texas who’s primary focus is offering Pre-Pay electric service to customers who prefer not to pay a deposit for electric service.  With ECN’s “Plug-n-Play” Pre-Pay AMI system and Pre-Pay Module, Young Energy can initialize service for a customer within 24-hours.  The customer can make payments at anytime and see their account status online, on their cell phone, on an in-home display or on the meter itself. 
  • June 4, 2008:  ECN expands its services to include 50% ownership in a Pre-Pay cellular phone company.  This new venture provides ECN with an additional mechanism to provide text messaging and voice notifications to its electric Pre-Pay customers for account status and automatic self service functionality.  It also allows ECN to offer free cell phones and free 911 services.  ECN electric Pre-Pay customers also may also qualify for up to 30-minutes of free cell service each month.
  • March 25, 2008:  ECN introduces its online utility/customer Energy
  • March 20, 2008:  ECN expands it payment centers to over 8,000 locations in Texas and 110,000 locations nationwide including CVC Pharmacies, WalMarts, ACE Check Cashing, MoneyGram, and many more outlets.  ECN also introduces a Stored Value Card, a branded VISA/MasterCard, and a Pre-Pay Card.
  • March 1, 2008:  State of Texas Deregulation Market is enhanced by ECN’s complete Pre-Pay solution which is the only Advanced Pre-Pay Meter solution which meets the PUCT’s Rules and Regulations for Pre-Pay Electric.
  • February 1, 2008:  City of Leesburg, FL implements Elster pilot project with ECN Middleware and Meter Data Management including 15-minute profile data and real-time online access, reporting and Disconnect/Reconnect functionality.
